1914 - 2011

HADLEY - Eugenia T. "Jean" (Rossi) Krause, 96, a lifelong resident of Hadley, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 23, 2011 at home. Born in Ludlow on Dec. 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Enrico and Maria (Allegrone) Rossi.

Jean worked at American Bosch and at the Acme Chain Company. She also owned the Rendezvous Cafe, formerly in Hadley, which was also know as "Ma's". Jean was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a long-time member of the Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley.

She was the wife of the late William E. Krause, Sr., the mother of the late William E. Krause, Jr., the grandmother of the late Peter P. Krause, Jr. and the sister of the late Eugenio Rossi. She is survived by two children, a daughter, Beverly P. Ingram and her husband C.A. of Pelham, a son, Peter P. Krause and his wife Jayne of Hadley, two brothers, Ralph Rossi and his wife Joanne of Ludlow, and Paul Rossi of Connecticut, one sister, Elizabeth Darsigny and her husband Leo of E. Longmeadow. Jean also leaves 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

A Prayer Service will be offered on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 10 am in the Ryder Funeral Home, 33 Lamb St., South Hadley with burial to follow in Village Cemetery in South Hadley. Calling Hours will be on Friday, Aug. 26, from 5-8pm.
