Herbert W. Anthony, 80 of Cherry St. Holyoke, died Tuesday June 26, 2012 at the Soldiers Home in Holyoke.

He was born in South Hadley. Herbert was the son of the late William and Mina (Goodnow) Anthony. Herbert retired from Continental Bakery and Confectionary, and worked for All Star Dairy. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, serving on the USS Mississippi. He enjoyed fishing, jogging, swimming and bingo. Herbert loved being around his family. He was a member of the Life Point Church in Chicopee. Herbert is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gail (Drake) Anthony, his daughters, Linda A. Racine and her husband, Raymond of South Hadley and Robin M. Martel-Mongeon and her husband Christopher of Belchertown, his grandchildren, Courtnine James, Currin Walz, Katie Sicard and Blake Mongeon, his great grandson, Roman D. James.

The funeral for Herbert will be held on Friday morning at 11 am in the Ryder Funeral Home followed with his burial in Evergreen Cemetery both in South Hadley. Calling hours will be held on Friday morning from 9am till 11am at the funeral home.
